Worms is a turn-based strategy and arcade game in which two teams of the title worms face each other. The game is the debut work of British designer Andy Davidson, initially released as Total Wormage and later published by Team 17. The final production debuted at the end of 1995 on PC, Amiga, and PlayStation, and then was ported to multiple other platforms.
Players control a team of four earthworms and aim to defeat the opposing team by eliminating all its members. Each worm moves in turn, navigating the map and attacking enemies using an arsenal of real weapons like shotguns, bazookas, grenades, and dynamite, as well as humorous fictional ones like exploding sheep or banana bombs. Some weapons require consideration of range, angle, and wind.
The game takes place on randomly generated maps with various sceneries, from forests and deserts to the Moon. Accessories like ropes, teleporters, and burners allow for creative movement and strategy. Worms supports both single-player mode against AI and multiplayer mode with up to sixteen players controlling individual worms.
Its combination of strategy, humor, and destructible terrain made it a classic in turn-based games and still provides engaging gameplay today. Relive the nostalgia or experience the fun for the first time online!
